Lisa Beaury, AP/DOM, Functional and Integrative Practitioner

Lisa Beaury, DOM/AP

Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Owner, Integrative / Functional Medicine Specialist

Lisa is a Summa Cum Laude graduate from the Florida College of Integrative Medicine. There, she received a Bachelor’s in Professional Health Studies and a Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine. She is also a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine through NCCAOM and a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine in the state of Florida. Her training includes Western Medicine and Oriental Medicine as well as a variety of Integrative and Functional Medicine approaches. Lisa is experienced in Bio-Energetic Feedback techniques, Applied Kinesiology / Muscle Testing, and she is able to order and support patients with blood work, saliva, stool tests and certain genetic tests.

A client of Healing Alternatives since childhood, Lisa has been brought up around natural healing modalities for as long as she can remember. Turning to herbs, homeopathic remedies, and energy work first is a way of life for her. Her first memory of an Integrative Medical Doctor is from a young age when a sibling continually had ear infections and had been prescribed a surgical procedure for tubes in his ears. In an effort to make sure that didn't happen, her mother found a Naturopathic Doctor who used muscle testing (Applied Kinesiology) to determine that it was simply a food allergy that was causing the earaches. Since then, she and her family have been devoted to looking at health and wellness from a holistic point of view. It's important to remember, just because your ears hurt, doesn't mean the root of the problem is in your ears.

A dedicated and passionate believer in natural and energetic healing modalities, Lisa is excited to be the leader of the team at Healing Alternatives.

Kathleen MacIsaac, MD / Functional Medicine Strategist

Dr. Kathleen MacIsaac, M.D.

Fellow American Academy of Restorative and Functional Medicine

Having grown up in Massachusetts, Dr. MacIsaac began her education in nearby Providence, Rhode Island at Brown University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a combined Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and Biomedical Ethics. The philosophical aspects of health and healing were introduced early on in her training, and have served as a foundation to her dynamic approach. She completed her medical school at Boston University School of Medicine in 1983, and continued there for her internship and residency in general surgery. She became interested in the surgical subspecialty of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery during her time in Boston, and in 1985 transferred to University of South Florida to complete her residency, serving as Chief Resident in 1987.

As a recipient of the United States Air Force Health Professions Scholarship for medical school, Dr. MacIsaac entered active duty and served as a staff surgeon at Keesler AFB, Biloxi MS. She deployed for Desert Storm in 1990, staffing a contingency hospital in Fairfield, England. The medical experience in the military afforded her a unique opportunity of practice, serving active duty members and families, and peaked her curiosity about serving overseas. She continued to serve in hospital settings at both Weisbaden and Landstuhl Hospitals, Germany, from 1990-1995, participating in both the Somalian and Bosnian efforts. It was during her time in Germany that she first was exposed to the practice of homeopathy, as it was a common practice by the German otolaryngologists to combine homeopathic medicines with pharmaceutical therapy. When she returned to the States, she began to study homeopathy independently while completing her active duty career as Chief of Otolaryngology at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida. When she left MacDill in 1997, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, her intention was to become more familiar with an integrated approach. Her extensive travel and views of other cultures peaked her curiosity about alternative healing methods. Eastern philosophies such as Chinese and Ayurvedic Medicine were interesting from the standpoint that they offered a more holistic view of the individual….very different from the highly specialized emphasis in conventional medicine.

With this intention, she proceeded to open her first office in 1997-98, fully focused on wellness and prevention. She devoted herself to a variety of studies, from traditional approaches such as Chinese Medicine, to the more preventive approach, such as Environmental Medicine and Toxicology. She attended her first meeting for the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine in 1998, and is now a Fellow in that organization, well-recognized as a source of continuing medical education for physicians branching into the field of integrative medicine.

Dr. MacIsaac’s personal interest in yoga and meditation led her to India on three separate occasions. First for a more in depth study of yogic philosophy and using the physical practice of yoga for rehabilitation. This introduced her to the field of Ayurveda, from the Sanskrit “Knowledge of Life,” which teaches a fundamentally holistic approach to living. Simply, the aim is to cultivate harmony from within and in relation to one’s surroundings. She studied under Dr. P. Shambhu, MD, DAM in Kovalum, India and apprenticed with the vaidyan (barefoot doctor) Sachidananda in the village of Muccola, Kerala, India in 2002. The insight she gained from these experiences, vastly different from her Air Force surgical experience, is quite unique.

Dr. MacIsaac’s private life has always been active, and largely dedicated to healthy living. Aside from yoga, she enjoys cycling and hiking, having been on several expeditions such as Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Everest Base Camp. Her breadth of experience has yielded an open-minded, compassionate approach to her patients. She considers her patients her most valued source of education, and views the doctor-patient relationship as one of partnership with the common goal.

Hillary Carroll, LDN

Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist

Functional Medicine Practitioner

Quicksilver Scientific Certified Practitioner

SIBO Doctor Certified practitioner

Hillary grew up in Japan and moved to the UK to attend university where she obtained her first BSc. After years of trying to navigate her own health challenges and raising a young family, she learned about functional medicine and the importance of harnessing the body’s innate propensity to heal by understanding the dynamic interconnection between mental, emotional, and physical health.

By expanding beyond the modern dis-ease management model of medicine and focusing on root-cause identification and harnessing the body’s natural propensity to heal, Hillary was propelled to obtain her second BSc in Nutritional Therapy from the University of West London and continues to actively engage in various continued educational learning to keep abreast of the fast-paced research in her field.  Her goal is to help guide others through their health journey by proving tools and knowledge so that feelings of frustration and helplessness can be replaced with empowerment and extended health span.

Hillary works with a wide range of clients who are highly motivated to make sustained health changes. She carefully examines the unique constellation of factors that have led to their health challenges and utilizes a wide range of functional laboratory testing (including comprehensive GI testing, comprehensive nutritional testing (ION, NutrEval), hormone testing, adrenal testing as well as heavy metal and other blood testing) to help pinpoint certain key areas of concern and develops a bespoke step-by-step dietary and lifestyle protocol to help them regain ownership of their health and become the healthiest versions of themselves.
